Valletta Shore Excursion

Valletta, Malta’s capital and Europe’s cultural Capital for the year 2018, is nothing short of an open-air museum. It is a living experience of Baroque architecture, a monument donated by the Knights of St John nearly five centuries ago. Throughout the years, Valletta has welcomed emperors, heads of state, artists and poets and is now the permanent seat of the Maltese government.

Dotted with quaint cafés and wine bars, this UNESCO city is today one of Malta’s main tourist attractions, hosting among others, the majestic St John’s Co- Cathedral, the Grandmasters Palace, the imposing bastions and a treasure of priceless paintings. It also provides a stunning snapshot of Malta’s Grand Harbour, often described as the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.

During the valletta shore excursion tour you will admire the bastion walls, the dense clusters of worn limestone buildings, the timber balconies, and imposing Churches!

Our suggested itinerary for valletta shore excursion includes a visit to;

  • The Upper Baracca Gardens
  • Entrance of Valletta including the Renzo Piano project (Ruins of Opera House and Parliament building)
  • Republic Street
  • Merchant Street
  • External visit of the Auberges and the Palaces of the Knights
  • Strait Street (old red light district)
  • Internal visit of St John’s co-Cathedral and Caravaggio master pieces (closed on Saturday afternoons and all day on Sunday’s)
  • Internal visit of the Grandmaster’s Palace, State Rooms and Armoury (Staterooms are closed on Thursdays)

This valletta shore excursion tour is a 4 hrs half day tour but can be extended to a 6 hour or 8 hour tour. A visit to Hastings Gardens, Strait street, Siege Bell memorial, Fort St Elmo, the Military Museum and Casa Rocca Piccolla or any other museum will be added.
There may be occasions without any prior notice when either the Co-Cathedral or the Magisterial Palace is closed due to official functions. If this should occur, a visit to the Palace Armory and/or the National Museum of Archaeology can be done.
